RubyKaigi 2013 has come and gone. We would like to thank all the speakers, attendees, sponsors and visitors who supported this year’s event. RubyKaigi would not be possible without your help and your support.
To our great pleasure, many who attended this year’s RubyKaigi have expressed to us how much they enjoyed the event. However, some have also expressed concern about what they felt was an atmosphere which was, at times, potentially alienating to women. As organizers, we take responsibility for this atmosphere and apologize for not having done enough to prevent it.
It is of utmost importance to us that RubyKaigi be a technology conference that is welcoming to everyone. Failing in this regard threatens the future of our community.
We look forward to holding another RubyKaigi in 2014, and sincerely hope that nobody in our community feels dissuaded from attending due to the issues mentioned above. If you have any suggestions about what we can do to improve the next RubyKaigi, or any other questions or comments, please do not hesitate to let us know.
@kakutani, Organizing Director of RubyKaigi.
